What up hip hop. I’ve been MIA for the last week, but I guess that happens when you get married (Hey Tia). So, just in case you’ve been MIA for the last week and a half as I have but you’re still committed like I am to this music here’s a little update of what Scheme considers newsworthy info that you may have missed.
After the huge spectacle that Bill O’Reilly made over Nas performing at Virginia Tech University, the school still allowed him to perform and actions speak louder than words, see for yourself here. On that same note for the intellectual schemer Mos Def chopped it up with Dr. Cornel West on the Bill Maher show, they discussed Jena 6 which is a hot topic everywhere except mainstream media. He also discussed being Black in America check it here.
Then we move to the numerous amount of new music that has arisen from everywhere, peep the Little Brother sampler here I only give you this because their album has been unfortunately pushed back to October 23rd. Oh, Lupe has a couple new joints but don’t tell anyone else besides the 8,000 plus that have already downloaded Dumb it Down exactly what Scheme tries not to do because unlike BET we know you guys are intelligent (I digress). Also featured in this issue is 9th Wonder who has a new dope joint from his upcoming album Dream Merchant Vol.2 featuring Saigon and Joe Scudda so get Saved and listen here.
Finally we all know about Kanye and 50 Cent. It’s really not a battle just a smart marketing scheme (no pun intended) that used to allow these to artists to sell ridiculous numbers, they’re on the new cover of Rolling Stone together, Kanye’s(peep the Good Life Video) on the new XXL and there’s really nothing else to say but go support either way.
Besides all of that hoopla, we have featured artists Karriem Riggins on this issues cover who represents everything Scheme wants to be, a little bit of everything to everyone. So enjoy that as well as the aformentioned 9th Wonder, dope author Felicia Pride, the 1Soul clothing line, Aesop Rock and the dynamic group AAries and lets keep the discussion going about Jena 6. If I missed anything it’s because I still have a lot of reading to do.
Stay Up!
