What up hip hop? So you had to know eventually that the infamous sneaker issue was coming, and here it is. We all understand that in the hip hop community, fashion is a prominent factor and the effects have been global. No matter where you are on this planet there is no doubt that from Chicago, Illinois to Sydney, Australia somewhere people share the same passion for the 95 Lime Green Airmax’s or the 1960 Converse All-Stars.
The problem arises when the sneaker becomes the priority-meaning before we pay our bills we decide to buy the latest Jordan or the classic Reebok Pump and the phone gets turned off and the children don’t eat. I love my sneakers just as much if not more than the next sneaker-head but when it’s time to pay the rent, feed the family or put gas in the car, the kicks as fresh as they are will have to stay on the shelf. I know they’re not going anywhere and so what if they are copped late, the balance is there and I’ll feel that much better wearing them after the bills are paid in full.
For the next two weeks we have dope interviews with Anthony Gilbert, Dave White, Scoop Jackson, Lori Lobenstine, Secret Society and many more individuals who are making their mark in the sneaker culture.
Stay Up.
