What a week for Scheme we’ve been traveling hard from Philly to NY and back. It’s quite a balancing act when you mix a 9-5 job in there in addition to plannning a wedding. The reality is for the viewers that are new and hopefully those that have become dedicated; we are serious about our work and what we bring across to and for this hip hop generation. We are attempting to be on bookshelves right next to the Source, XXL, Mass Appeal, Complex and VIBE just through a different route. We put our heart in this work just like U-N-I artists out of Cali who are here to give a different view of what California is like no disrespect to Snoop but these cats can be considered the new Souls of Mischief or A Tribe Called Quest of the west side. Then we have the main feature, animator/cartoonist LeSean Thomas out of New York who followed his dream and constantly perfected his craft check him out and read what he has in store for 2007.
On a side, we wanted to keep it funky fresh for ya’ll so if your wondering why some artist’s pics have this comic feel to them it was just to honor LeSean Thomas and the work that he has done and continues to create.
We also feature Pete Chatmon director of Premium, a dope film about a love story which is something that everyone can relate to. Also this week look for interview with Musiq, Larry Gold, J.Period, Peter Hadar, Brian Coleman author of Rakim Told Me, an introspective podcast interview with Stephen A. Smith and on Tuesday we have DJ Soul who constructed the mixtape Assorted Donuts which will be available for you here to download and much more!
To the hip hop generation, communities and ciphers of different backgrounds you can do what you love and still maintain a great life. You may not be sitting on 24’s or have eight chains around your neck but do you really need all of that? What if you never knew about it would it matter? This issue is for the people who do what they love and created a way to put food on the table with it. What’s your Scheme?
Shout-outs to Amath Gomis, Chad Quinn, “the hardest working woman in showbiz”, Rakia Reynolds, Abdul Ali for their work ethic and passion for doing what they love to make Scheme what it is.
