What up Hip Hop, we first want to start of by saying thanks to all the supporters of Scheme Magazine we’ve had a solid two week opening and hope to continue with our momentum. On February 7, 2007 we had a succesful launch party, that took place in Washington, DC at Common Share in Adams Morgan. Thank you to Arts & Crafts and AM Radio for featuring us as the guest artists for the month of January.

To this weeks issue. As you all have noticed we have a Amanda Diva on the cover. In this very male dominated hip hop community Scheme wants to bring some diversity to the mix and who better to feature than Ms. Diva herself who has a variety of talents to offer to the hip hop community and world at large. This issue will be chopped up but is very hip hop oriented and in addition to the music we deal with images that have been created for us and by us. Check critical minded and the column on the correlation between film and African-American women.

On the other side we also discuss issues with the hip hop community expanding it’s mind and developing the flexibility to explore different genres of hip hop music. Check this week for features with Photographer Kareem Black, and renowned poet, activist and author Amiri Baraka in addition to interviews with Kidz in the Hall, Wajeed of the Platinum Pied Pipers, Hezekiah and a podcast with Rene John-Sandy of Spitkicker.com.

We hope you like what you are reading and seeing so far, enjoy this issue but there is definitely more to come.
